Volume 9(2015) now out and full content available

The Academy Journal of Science and Engineering (AJSE) was conceived by the Faculties of Science and Engineering of the NDA in November, 1999.  It was established for learned contributions from Academy staff in the two faculties as well as contributions from other institutions within and outside the country. AJSE publishes articles on well researched theoretical, experimental and analytical papers in all areas of Science, Technology and Engineering.

The Journal is committed to the promotion of scholarship and dissemination of knowledge. Every paper intended for publication in the Journal is required to show convincing evidence of scholarship and to make some definite contribution to knowledge in the development of Science, Technology and Engineering.

  • Short communications, Technical or design notes and book reviews are also acceptable for publication in the journal. The Journal has a Management Committee made up of the Dean of Engineering, Dean of Science and the Editor-in-Chief.  The management Board oversees the Journal activities and is responsible for major decision.  The Editorial Board reports directly to this Board through the Editor-in-Chief.
  • The Academy Journal of Science and Engineering (AJSE) set out from the beginning to publish annually. The first volume was produced in 2001. It could not however, publish annually due to some challenges in receiving and processing of journal articles.  To date, six (6) volumes have been produced:

  • Volume 1, 2001, Volume 2, 2002, Volume 3, 2004, Volume 4, 2006, Volume 5, 2007, Volume 6, 2009 Volume 8, 2013 Volume 9, 2015.

  • All articles submitted for publication are evaluated by two independent experts in the relevant subject areas. The two assessors must recommend that the article be published before being considered by the Editorial Board which also subjects the recommended articles to further screening. When the recommendations of the two assessors for a particular article are at variance, a third assessor is sought before conclusions are made on the article.

Article Processing

Two copies of received articles are sent to two independent assessors (usually different locations).  There are four categories of recommendations from assessors:

  • Publishable  without amendment
  • Publishable with minor amendment
  • Publishable with major amendment
  • Not publishable

Depending on the category recommended, an article may be sent out twice for assessment (i.e. when the recommendations from the two assessors are conflicting).

Assessed articles are returned to the office of the Editor-in-Chief

Honorarium is given to assessors of each reviewed article

The reviewed articles are sent back to contributors to effect corrections as may be recommended by assessors
The corrected articles are sent back to the office of the Editor-in-Chief for further consideration by the Editorial Board

The Editorial Board vets the articles returned after corrections by the contributor and ensures that the recommendations of the assessors are effected

Articles are formatted in line with the standard of the Journal and made camera ready.

Production of the Journal

Due to technical nature of the articles (equations, tables, diagrams and graphs) in Science and Engineering, typesetting is done by competent hands supervised by the Editorial Board to ensure quality before engaging the services of a printer. A reputable Printer is selected to handle the production.

Circulation of the Journal

This is handled by the Business/Circulation Editors. Complementary copies are sent to the contributors of articles published and to selected institutions/individuals. Copies are also sold to graduating Cadets of the Faculties of Science and Engineering as well as the general public.

A copy of the Journal is sent to every contributor
Complimentary copies are sent to selected institutions/Libraries

Every graduating Cadet in the Faculties of Engineering and Science are made to buy before their final clearance from departments

The journals are sold during passing out parade to the general public

Sometimes requests come in from libraries

Vendors of journal/books also buy
